Closer to home, the group also did a city art walk and the regular walks on Mt Coot-tha. The Moggill Conservation Park walk was intended to offer extensive views over Ipswich and beyond the ranges of the Scenic Rim, but we were beaten by the weather with extensive thick fog hindering the view. Regardless, a good walk was enjoyed by all followed by coffee at Hawkesbury Road. The city art walk complimented our previous city art walk, covering the other half of the city. We had a near record number of 39 walkers. The walk was convened by Bruce Gough and Anne Halliday and covered 85 points of interest. On this walk we crossed the Brisbane River using the Victoria Bridge, travelled through the Cultural Centre precinct and came back across the Kulripa Bridge and through the courts precinct. We continued through the Roma Street Parkland before heading back down Edward Street to a wonderful breakfast at Tattersall’s Club. The art pieces covered statues, sculptures and murals, to name a few. A common comment was how often many of us had passed the pieces without even noticing. The end of spring will see the walkers start to scale back activities for the warmer months and the holiday season, to regular walks on Mt Coot-tha. The final formal walk of spring will be at Manly, on Brisbane’s Bayside and this will bring the Walkers 2015 program to a close. This event will also be our Christmas party, which is traditionally held at Manly on the waterfront with a walk to Wynnum and return followed by a shared feast. 1 Alan Ernst
