Tattler Summer 2015

Country Chapters Tattersall’s at 2015 Gympie Cup Meeting 34 Tattler Summer 2015 Tattersall’s Racing Club, as has become tradition, sponsored a race at the Gympie Cup Race Day on Saturday 24 October. Racing Club President, Scott McAlpine, led a party of some two dozen supporters for the occasion, the Gympie Turf Club’s biggest meeting of the year. The group enjoyed a first class buffet lunch in the Club’s air-conditioned Madill Room-Pavilion Complex. The lunch rivalled anything Tattersall’s dining room might produce, with those present revelling in choice fresh local king prawns, oysters in the shell, and various other dishes and side salads hot and cold. With drinks readily available from their private bar, a race viewing platform on the directly adjacent balcony, private large screen television for watching the big southern races including the Cox Plate, the bookmakers betting ring downstairs and a tote betting terminal at the door, those present enjoyed the best-appointed facility for a racing party to be found anywhere in country Queensland. Scott McAlpine presented the trophy to the connections of the winner of Tattersall’s Racing Club QTIS Maiden Plate (1,170m). In his speech he acknowledged that Tattersall’s Racing Club was delighted to continue its sponsorship in line with its support of country racing, as Tattersall’s has many Members in country Queensland. The day concluded with the running of the Gympie Cup, followed almost immediately by the Cox Plate on TV screens, after which a weary but happy group of Tattersall’s Members headed home.
