Melbourne Cup T attersall’s Club opened its doors to over 500 Members, partners and guests for the annual Melbourne Cup Luncheon on Tuesday 3 November. Sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Toowong the Tattersall’s Club Melbourne Cup Luncheon did not disappoint, with an action packed day celebrating the race that stops the nation. The stylish and hilariously witty Brisbane duo, Those Two Girls; Lise and Sarah emceed the event and the popular Fashions on the Field competition. Dressed by Brisbane designer My Ringuet, Tattersall’s Arcade tenant AG Designer Jeweller and Alannah Hill, they looked like strong contenders themselves to win the competition. Over 35 eager entrants took to the stage to strut their stuff. The judging panel made up of Benjamin Ringuet from My Ringuet, Melissa Morrison from Youngcare and Derek and Georgia Barlow from Tony Barlow Menswear had their work cut out for them. Tyson Clarke took out the male prize winning a $1,000 Tony Barlow Menswear voucher, Victoria Park $100 Dallas key and putt putt passes and a bottle of wine from the Tattersall’s Club Cellar. The top female prize was awarded to Michelle Auliffe, who took home a $200 My Ringuet voucher, ivadore pack worth $549 plus Bollinger and Della Mana brownies donated by Caroline Munro Property. The remaining finalists all 20 Tattler Summer 2015 Luncheon received a $100 Healy Room voucher with the females also receiving 30 per cent off the new My Ringuet collection. Following the Fashions on the Field competition guests were seated in the various dining rooms to enjoy the three-course luncheon and view the pivotal moment of the event, the Melbourne Cup Race. In what was a spectacular turn of events, the 100 to 1 outsider Prince of Penzance took the lead in the home straight, galloping into glory and the history books, with jockey Michelle Payne as the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup. The dream team beat the hot favourites Fame Game and Trip to Paris, who did not even place in the race. The day’s excitement was not over yet with raffle prizes still to be drawn. A Mercedes-Benz Toowong four day convertible experience plus a $300 Montrachet restaurant voucher was awarded to one lucky winner and the big raffle of the day, the AG Designer Jeweller $5,000 southsea Australian pearl necklace was awarded to Club Member Michael Robertson. Raffle and coffee machine donations raised $7,000, with all proceeds going to Youngcare. Guests then moved to the Members’ Bar where a live band provided classic hits for guests to continue their celebrations throughout the afternoon.
