Tattler Summer 2015

Tattler Summer 2015 9 Meet Your Fellow Members Max Tynan 29 years of age What is your occupation? I am an Investment Adviser at Morgans Tynan Partners. When did you join Tattersall’s Club? I joined in March 2015. Why did you join Tattersall’s Club? I was interested in meeting other like minded people and making use of the Club’s facilities. The spa and sauna were a big factor! Why Tattersall’s Club over other Clubs? The Club appeared to have a number of events and social groups which appealed to me, such as the Colts Club and events like the Black Tie Boxing Evening and Sportsman’s Grill Nights. I have also found the lunch and dining facilities to be convenient if I am hosting friends or clients. How does Tattersall’s Club stay relevant to the younger generations? Certainly groups like the Colts Club are of interest to the younger generation. However, I think the younger Members relish in just as much enjoyment as the Senior Members using the Tattersall’s facilities and attending various events. Indeed, people of all ages like to have the opportunity to meet others from different walks of life. What is your fondest memory of Tattersall’s Club? I have attended several of the Colts monthly shouts recently, where I have met like minded Members. I have enjoyed heading along to these informal sessions. On one particular evening, as I was leaving I introduced myself to a Senior Tattersall’s Member who was also departing. He and I decided to continue on to a few whisky bars around town, nutting out solutions to a few world problems along the way. I believe these exchanges are what Tattersall’s is all about. Gary Tupicoff 70 years of age What is your occupation? I was a Financial Planner and Principal at a Financial Planning Business. I am now semi retired, but I do some Business Coaching and run a not-for-profit called School Return Serve. It seeks to get physically, financially and mentally disadvantaged people onto tennis courts, supplying the courts, equipment and coaches to get them on the court and playing. When did you join Tattersall’s Club? I joined Tattersall’s in 1993 after nine years on the waiting list. Why did you join Tattersall’s Club? I thought I should be in a Club in the city as I had an office in the city. It is good to meet clients and organise functions here. What does Tattersall’s Club mean to you? It is now a home office for me when I am in the city. The Club is the perfect venue to host meetings for business ventures. The main purpose for me now though is the Sub Clubs. I am in the Racqueteers Club, which has been the best element of the Club for me. How do you think Tattersall’s Club has evolved over the years? The biggest evolution I have seen is allowing partners and daughters to have access to the Club and I think that is fantastic and makes it a more rounded Club. What is one of your fondest memories of Tattersall’s Club? My best memories are playing with the Racqueteers and I would say winning the handicap doubles with Reg Kempnich in I believe 2008. In addition to that was last year’s final, where we lost in four and three quarter hours. At Tattersall’s Club, I find people will always try to remember your name and I have always found the Club to be very responsive to any issues. These elements are the makings of a great institution. Tattersall’s is a friendly haven in the city that is very useful. Mark Thompson 46 years of age What is your occupation? I am an Accountant. When did you join Tattersall’s Club? I joined Tattersall’s in 1996. I was on the waiting list for a period of time, but my wedding was coming up and we had chosen to have our reception at Tattersall’s and I was encouraged by Paul McLean to join up. Paul was a previous President of Tattersall’s Club and I had an association with Paul through Brothers Rugby Club. Why did you join Tattersall’s Club? I loved the history of the Club and had visited it on a couple of occasions with my Senior Partners at work. My main reason was really that I had, and still do have, a high regard for the traditions of the Club. What does Tattersall’s Club mean to you? It means friendships, a connection with prior times in business and a different dining and entertainment experience. It is a step back in time as far as dining goes, which is really nice. How has Tattersall’s Club evolved over the years? The cross section of events and offerings to Members and the service and facilities it continues to offer. What is your fondest memory of Tattersall’s Club? My wedding would be my fondest memory. My reception was held in the Members’ Dining Room. Claire Dean was our wedding coordinator at the time and was absolutely fantastic. In addition, I thoroughly enjoyed taking my teenage children to the Club last year for a dinner for the first time. My sons loved their introduction to the Club and will become Members when they come of age.
