SUPER RUGBY MEDIA GUIDE 2014 REDS 95 AIDAN TOUA @AidanToua Position: Wing Physical: 183cm/92kg Date of Birth: 19 January 1991 Place of Birth: Port Moresby, PNG Super Rugby Caps: 5 Super Rugby Points: 0 Super Rugby Debut: Round 1, 2011 vs Force, Brisbane Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – One of the more dangerous attacking players in the squad, Aidan Toua’s Super Rugby aspirations have been hampered by injury in recent years. He was again active for Easts Tigers in Premier Grade and was named ‘Player of the Year,’ despite missing the Final with a fractured eye socket. Signed to the full time squad in 2012, Toua was struck down with a hamstring injury in the club’s opening trial game and was sidelined until his Round 7 return at Suncorp Stadium. A stellar 56-minute performance marked a successful return for the flying winger but despite showing exciting promise, his other hamstring proved his undoing and forcing an end to his 2012 campaign. Aidan is set to return to a full bill of health in 2014 and will hope to build upon his five Super Rugby caps. LACHIE TURNER Position: Wing Physical: 189cm/94kg Date of Birth: 11 May 1987 Place of Birth: Sydney, AUS Super Rugby Caps: 71 Super Rugby Points: 125 Super Rugby Debut: Round 7, 2007 vs Stormers, Sydney Test Caps: 15 Test Points: 20 Test Debut 5 July 2008 vs France, Brisbane Lachie Turner is one of the club’s newest recruits after moving north from his native New South Wales for the 2014 Super Rugby season. Turner signed with the Reds for two years in late 2013 and hopes to ignite the field with his blistering pace after two injury-marred seasons at the Waratahs. A whippy and experienced winger, Turner has been a proven finisher since making his provincial debut for New South Wales in 2006, his first year out of high school. He is a threat at both wing and fullback and has 25 tries in 71 Super Rugby games as proof of his attacking potency. He also has four Test tries to his name in 15 caps for the Wallabies. Turner’s move to Queensland marks the end of a frustrating chapter of injury troubles following a severe hamstring tear in a 2012 preseason trial and a broken leg sustained playing club rugby last year.
