Tapuai featured in all but one of the Reds’ Super Rugby games last season and also took on the British & Irish Lions. He started the season at inside centre where he played for the first 11 games of the season before shifting to outside centre for the remainder. He scored three tries, including a memorable double against the Waratahs in a standout Round 2 performance. Tapuai commenced the 2012 Super Rugby season as the Reds’ most consistent performer, but a colossal hit delivered by Juan de Jongh in Round 9 sidelined the centre with a fractured collarbone. Following his rehabilitation, Tapuai continued his form in the later stages of the Super Rugby season to earn selection in Australia’s squad for The Rugby Championship. JAMIE-JERRY TAULAGI @jjtaulagi Position: Fullback Physical: 180cm/90kg Date of Birth: 18 June 1993 Place of Birth: Auckland, NZL Super Rugby Caps: 0 Super Rugby Points: 0 Super Rugby Debut: – Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – Jamie-Jerry Taulagi, or ‘Jay-Jay’ as he is commonly known, has joined the club on a two-year contract that will take him through until at least the end of 2015. Taulagi has experienced a rapid rise into the Reds squad after his family moved from New Zealand to Australia in June 2012 when he was 19 years of age. He began playing Colts rugby at the University of Queensland before making his Premier Grade debut and later featuring in the 2012 Queensland Premier Rugby Grand Final where University beat Sunnybank 46-20. Jay-Jay turned heads in 2013 with his electric pace and fast feet, scoring 13 tries from 13 games to help the University ‘Red Heavies’ progress to the 2013 Preliminary Final.
