He added a further 11 Super Rugby caps to his tally and took on the British & Irish Lions, but was ruled out of the Reds’ final two matches of the year with a hamstring concern. His Super Rugby form saw Fainga’a named to the Australian squad for The Rugby Championship, but he was forced to withdraw due to injury. His contributions both on and off the field saw Fainga’a take home the Spirit of the Reds Award for demonstrating the hallmark attributes of the Red’s team culture. His twin brother Saia also plays for the Reds while younger brother Colby moves to the Rebels in 2014 after four years in Canberra. SAIA FAINGA’A @FaingaaTwins Position: Hooker Physical: 187cm/108kg Date of Birth: 2 February 1987 Place of Birth: Queanbeyan, AUS Super Rugby Caps: 94 Super Rugby Points: 40 Super Rugby Debut: Round 3, 2006 vs Stormers, Cape Town Test Caps: 29 Test Points: 0 Test Debut 5 June 2010 vs Fiji, Canberra Despite being just 27 years old at the start of this season, Saia Fainga’a is the second-most experienced member of the club, as he sits just six games shy of 100 Super Rugby caps. With 67 of these appearances in Reds colours – and the others served in a Brumbies jersey during 2006-08 – Fainga’a is only trumped in experience by prop Greg Holmes, who has played 104 Super Rugby games – all for the Reds. While partially disrupted by injury, the hooker had another consistent year for the Reds in 2013, adding a further 14 games to his career total and scoring one try. His 89 percent lineout success (112/14) was ranked No. 2 behind Chiliboy Ralepelle for players with over 100 throws. He also added a further 11 Tests to his growing tally in 2013, including a single outing against the British & Irish Lions. He then featured for Australia in The Rugby Championship and Spring Tour.
