SUPER RUGBY MEDIA GUIDE 2014 REDS 83 BEN DALEY @bennydaley Position: Prop Physical: 184cm/112kg Date of Birth: 27 June 1988 Place of Birth: Sydney, AUS Super Rugby Caps: 57 Super Rugby Points: 5 Super Rugby Debut: Round 13, 2008 vs Crusaders, Brisbane Test Caps: 3 Test Points: 0 Test Debut 12 June 2010 vs England, Perth Ben Daley’s 2013 season was ruined by injury, limiting him to just seven Super Rugby appearances which was disappointing considering the prop established himself as a regular starter in 2012. When he was on the field however, Daley was one of the club’s most efficient tacklers, making 31 without a miss – a figure bettered only by Liam Coltman (54/0) and Brok Harris (52/0). Since his Super Rugby debut in 2008, Daley has been a constant fixture within the Reds highly-competitive front-row, his durability and aggression a huge asset for the team. After a glittering 2011 season that included a Super Rugby title, the Gold Coast prop was selected alongside 15 of his Reds teammates for the initial 40-man Wallabies squad in a Rugby World Cup year to compete in the Tri Nations. ROD DAVIES Position: Wing Physical: 180cm/90kg Date of Birth: 18 May 1989 Place of Birth: Rockhampton, AUS Super Rugby Caps: 44 Super Rugby Points: 75 Super Rugby Debut: Round 7, 2009 vs Chiefs, Brisbane Test Caps: 1 Test Points: 0 Test Debut 17 July 2011 vs Samoa, Sydney Rod Davies will make a belated return to Super Rugby in 2014 with a knee injury at the back end of last season forcing a lengthy stint on the sidelines. Davies had returned to form in 2013 after struggling through an injury-hit 2012 campaign, but was again struck down when he damaged knee ligaments against the Waratahs in Round 20, ruling him out of the Super Rugby Finals Series. The lightning-quick winger started nine games for the Reds, plus their clash against the British & Irish Lions, but was forced to undergo a knee reconstruction and won’t return to full health until the 2014 season is well underway. Davies scored five tries in 2013, including what was named the Australian Super Rugby Try of the Year for his finish to a 100-metre effort against the Sharks at Suncorp Stadium.
