His Rebels teammates and fans will be hoping Smith can help build a winning culture in Melbourne and add to his trophy cabinet during his time in Victoria. Smith played for the New Zealand U20 side that won the 2008 World Championship, but having been born in far north Queensland, the big loosehead prop moves as an Australian player eligible to represent the Wallabies. After claiming the Rebel Rising Best Player award following his 2012 debut season, Stirzaker played 11 Super Rugby matches for the club in 2013, including starting in the win over the Stormers at AAMI Park. Stirzaker is lightning quick off the mark and his fearlessness in the tackle belies his slight frame He is the quickest player over 20 and 40 metres in the Rebels squad, boasting a personal best of 2.71 seconds in the former. Born in England to South African parents, Stirzaker was raised in Australia from the age of two, where he developed his love of rugby at Knox Grammar in Sydney.
