2014 SUPER RUGBY MEDIA GUIDE REBELS 68 MAX LAHIFF @MaxLahiff Position: Prop Physical: 185cm/117kg Date of Birth: 9 December 1989 Place of Birth: London, ENG Super Rugby Caps: 0 Super Rugby Points: 0 Super Rugby Debut: – Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – Max Lahiff joins the club ahead of the new season from London Irish where he played from 2009-13. The big loosehead qualifies for Australian selection through his father, and holds aspirations of forcing his way into the Wallaby squad. Lahiff will be looking to fill the gap left by former Wallaby Nic Henderson who retired at the end of the 2013 season. He brings no shortage of experience down under despite still being just 24 years of age. Lahiff started 20 games for London Irish in the Guinness Premiership this season and has played four times in the Heineken Cup amongst a total of 63 first team appearances for the Wild Geese. Lahiff teamed up with ex-Rebel Ged Robinson for Hawke’s Bay in the ITM Cup before moving to Melbourne in late 2013. LACHLAN MITCHELL @lachlmitch Position: Centre Physical: 178cm/91kg Date of Birth: 30 September 1987 Place of Birth: Sydney, AUS Super Rugby Caps: 45 Super Rugby Points: 30 Super Rugby Debut: Round 1, 2011 vs Waratahs, Melbourne Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – Foundation Rebel Lachlan Mitchell’s 45 appearances make him the most capped of all the current Rebels. Mitchell played 13 matches for the Rebels in the 2013 season, scoring a pair of tries in the process and the durable centre has missed just two games in his time in Melbourne due to injury. Possessing a vast skill set and some of the safest hands in the business, Mitchell will look to add leadership to his repertoire in 2014 as he steps up to help fill the void left by the departure of other foundation Rebels. Equally adept at inside centre or on the wing, Mitchell joined the club in 2011 from English Premiership side London Wasps, where he had been since 2008. Prior to that, Mitchell spent time with the Waratahs Academy following impressive performances for Sydney University in the Shute Shield.
