A quick and powerfully built centre, Ellison has represented the All Blacks on four occasions, as well as representing New Zealand underage sides, New Zealand Maori and the New Zealand Rugby Sevens team. Ellison will add experience to the young Rebel backline, and has the ability to cover numerous positions if required. Rugby is in Ellison’s blood; he is related to the first ever All Black captain, Thomas Rangiwahia Ellison, and his grandfather Vince Bevan also played for his country. Ellison made eight appearances for the Highlanders last season, scoring four tries. TOM ENGLISH @tom_engo Position: Centre Physical: 187cm/95kg Date of Birth: 8 March 1991 Place of Birth: Sydney, AUS Super Rugby Caps: 9 Super Rugby Points: 25 Super Rugby Debut: Round 2, 2013 vs Brumbies, Melbourne Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – Tom English had a breakthrough 2013 season, making nine Super Rugby appearances and winning the Rebels Rookie of the Year award. He was given the daunting task of making his run-on debut in Christchurch against the Crusaders, playing 58 minutes of the 30-26 defeat. English played the full 80 minutes in the club’s final seven matches of the season, scoring five tries in the process, exceeding all expectations. English, a New South Wales Schools product and former Australian Rugby Sevens representative, is yet another of the Sydney University alumni to make the move south. Although originally signed as an outside centre, English played on the wing for all but one of his Super Rugby appearances in 2013. His size and athleticism is a rare mix for centres in current Australian playing ranks.
