Faulkner’s strength and technical ability makes him a formidable opponent in the scrum and he continues to develop his skills on both sides of the front row. Faulkner grew up playing his rugby in Melbourne after moving from his native New Zealand at 12 years of age and was an Australian Schoolboys, U19 and U20 representative before linking with the Brumbies and Waratahs Academies. His junior experience includes the 2007 U19 Rugby World Cup in Ireland and the inaugural Junior World Championship in Wales in 2008 where Australia finished fifth. He was recognised by his peers, club and Force members at the end of season awards evening, taking home the inaugural Nathan Sharpe Medal, Rising Star Award and Members’ MVP. Godwin – one of six local products in the squad this year – progressed through the RugbyWA development pathway, playing Australian Schoolboys and Australian Under 20s. Among the Force contingent last season, Godwin was ranked second in carries (115), tackles (140) and third in minutes played (1095).
