SUPER RUGBY MEDIA GUIDE 2014 FORCE 41 KEVIN FOOTE Position: Backs/Attack Coach Born: 22 March 1979, Johannesburg RSA Coaching History: University of Cape Town Assistant Coach (2008‑10) University of Cape Town Head Coach (2011-13) Force Defensive Consultant (2013) Force Backs/Attack Coach (2014-) Kevin Foote joined the Force as a defence consultant in 2014, with his enthusiasm and broad knowledge of the game seeing him take on the role of Backs and Attack Coach. During his playing career, Foote represented Western Province at U21 level, Natal Wildebeest in the Vodacom Cup and the Springbok Sevens from 2005-08. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Ikeys in 2008 and took on the Head Coach role in 2011, where he guided the team to its first Varsity Cup title over the University of Pretoria Tuks. CHRIS ALCOCK Position: Flanker Physical: 182cm/103kg Date of Birth: 24 June 1988 Place of Birth: Durban, RSA Super Rugby Caps: 41 Super Rugby Points: 5 Super Rugby Debut: Round 8, 2010 vs Cheetahs, Sydney Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – Chris Alcock was a regular on the field in his first season with the Force, playing all 16 matches after spending 2010-12 with the Waratahs. Alcock’s workman-like performances and physicality on the field earned him nine starts at openside flanker while he also provided significant impact off the bench. His 117 tackles were ranked fourth in the team as an aggregate, but first when taking minutes into consideration. He made a tackle every seven minutes he was on the pitch, missing just nine all year. Alcock also beat 20 defenders last season which was enough to place him equal-second among the Force ranks, alongside Nick Cummins and behind Kyle Godwin (40). His fearless approach at the breakdown will again make him a formidable opponent in 2014.
