First spotted playing off the bench for the Force in 2012, Smith took the plunge and moved to Canberra with the aim of making his way into regular reckoning for the side’s match-day 22. It wasn’t long before Smith was picking up game time in 2013 and he featured in the entire Super Rugby Finals Series and historic win over the British and Irish Lions along the way. In all, the 24-year-old accumulated 136 minutes across eight appearances last season. One of only a handful of players to have represented two countries at schoolboy level, Smith changed allegiances from South African Schools to Australian Schoolboys and then back again. HENRY SPEIGHT Position: Wing Physical: 186cm/97kg Date of Birth: 24 March 1988 Place of Birth: Suva, FJI Super Rugby Caps: 46 Super Rugby Points: 95 Super Rugby Debut: Round 1, 2011 vs Chiefs, Canberra Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – Henry Speight is one of the most lethal broken play runners in the Super Rugby competition. Give the Fijian flyer an inch and he’ll take a metre with his powerful fend, high knee running style and lightning-quick left-right step. Like any world-class counter attacking winger, Speight has the potential to punish opposition defensive mistakes from anywhere on the field. For the last two seasons, Speight has been the Australian Conference’s most prolific try-scorer, most of which are polished off with his signature swan dive. During 2013, he led the Brumbies in carries (162) which was also ranked 10th throughout Super Rugby as a whole. But not only is it his attack which earns him praises, but the hard yards he puts in off the ball which make him such a valued team member. In January, the IRB ruled that Speight would be eligible to represent Australia from September 11, 2014.
