2014 SUPER RUGBY MEDIA GUIDE BRUMBIES 28 STEPHEN MOORE @stevemoore83 Position: Hooker Physical: 186cm/112kg Date of Birth: 20 January 1983 Place of Birth: Khamis Mushait, SAU Super Rugby Caps: 118 Super Rugby Points: 35 Super Rugby Debut: Round 9, 2003 vs Bulls, Pretoria Test Caps: 91 Test Points: 25 Test Debut 11 June 2005 vs Samoa, Sydney Mountains of experience, a comprehensive skill set and an unwavering ability to lead a team by example all combine to make Stephen Moore Australia’s finest hooker and one of the world’s most distinguished players. With the 2013 Spring Tour under his belt, Moore rests on the cusp of 100 Tests for the Wallabies, a remarkable feat considering he has held the mantle of most-capped Australian hooker for almost two years. Having moved to Canberra from the Reds in 2009 after six seasons in Queensland, Moore’s 118 games of experience have helped guide the club through times of change between 2011 and 2013. His 162 lineout throws won last season ranked No. 1 in Super Rugby. BEN MOWEN Position: No. 8 Physical: 195cm/110kg Date of Birth: 1 December, 1984 Place of Birth: Brisbane, AUS Super Rugby Caps: 75 Super Rugby Points: 35 Super Rugby Debut: Round 8, 2006 vs Sharks, Durban Test Caps: 15 Test Points: 5 Test Debut 22 June 2013 vs British & Irish Lions, Brisbane The skipper enters his ninth season of professional rugby in 2014 and last in Australia after recently signaling his intention to move to France. Should Mowen finish all 16 regular-season games as captain, he will equal George Gregan’s club record of 49 appearances as skipper – a fine accomplishment considering Mowen only moved to the ACT at the end of 2011. Mowen became the 80th Australian captain in Perth during 2013 when the Wallabies overcame Argentina in their first victory since the British and Irish Lions series. Having worked hard in the gym since moving to Canberra, Mowen has physically bulked up to become a force at the breakdown. There are few players who hit as many rucks as the club’s leader; a testament to his big engine and dedication to strength and conditioning. Only former Brumby Peter Kimlin (1489) played more minutes than Mowen’s 1440 last season and his 79 lineout wins led the competition.
