Known for his physicality and gutsy attack, Mapoe brings experience and leadership to the group. His hard running and unpredictability make him a threat to any opponent on the pitch. He was part of the Cheetahs’ squad in 2010, playing the first of his 35 Super Rugby matches to date against the Bulls in the opening round. The winger featured on 12 occasions while on loan at the Bulls last season, playing 664 minutes and scoring a pair of tries. A physical hooker with strong ball carrying abilities and good leadership qualities, this youngster certainly has a bright future ahead of him. Marx was named the 2013 Golden Lions Rugby Union’s U19 Forward Player of the Year and is the youngest player in the squad, turning 20 towards the end of the current season. He is also the second-youngest player in Super Rugby behind David Horwitz of the Waratahs (born September 30, 1994).
