After playing 11 Super Rugby matches for the Cheetahs during 2012 and three Currie Cup matches, he was sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a broken thumb. Nyakane can pack down on either side of the scrum, which was an asset that played a part in him making his Test debut against in 2013 after an outstanding Super Rugby season for his franchise. He featured on 16 occasions for the Cheetahs last season, scoring two tries. Oosthuizen regularly plays as a loosehead prop and looks forward to continuing developing under the watchful eye of Forwards Coach and Springbok champion Os du Randt. He previously represented the University of Johannesburg in the 2011 Varsity Cup where he started all eight of his sides’ matches. He also represented South Africa U20 at the 2009 Junior World Championship in Japan.
