He excelled at Currie Cup level, playing all 15 games in the competition and scoring six tries. A hard-working loose-forward, Labuschagne provides a reliable option at the back of the lineout, carries the ball with purpose and is very strong on defence – leading Super Rugby with 248 (and only 11 missed) in the 2013 season. His 15.50 tackles per game also led the competition from Matt Todd (14.18) and Wimpie van der Walt (13.93) He was called up by the Springboks in 2013 but did not feature and is still awaiting his Test debut. He played his youth rugby with the Leopards which is where he also began his senior rugby career. Landman played 41 games for the Potchefstroom-based side before joining the Boland Cavaliers in 2011. He spent just one season in Wellington before moving to Kimberley in 2012. Strong performances in the local Vodacom Cup and Currie Cup competitions coupled with injuries to Martin Muller and Andries Ferreira saw him become an important member of the team that reached the Super Rugby Qualifier in 2013, ultimately losing to the Brumbies in Canberra.
