2014 SUPER RUGBY MEDIA GUIDE BULLS 246 HANDRÈ POLLARD @handrepollard Position: Flyhalf Physical: 189cm/96kg Date of Birth: 9 March 1994 Place of Birth: Somerset West, RSA Super Rugby Caps: 0 Super Rugby Points: 0 Super Rugby Debut: – Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – There is no hiding from scrutiny and expectation for anyone who dons the number 10 jersey in Pretoria and young upstart Handrè Pollard will be no exception. Massive expectation comes with the young playmaker’s elevation to the top echelon, but early indications point to a natural ability to adapt to the biggest of challenges. The decorated Junior Springbok flyhalf demonstrated the necessary temperament in the Currie Cup during 2013 and his brilliant hand speed coupled with tactical reading of the game could allow his hard running outside backs to prosper. Pollard is a no-nonsense defender and once his kicking game matches his other skills, a Super Rugby debut and higher honours are a given. JACQUES-LOUIS POTGIETER Position: Utility Back Physical: 178cm/90kg Date of Birth: 2 September 1984 Place of Birth: Pretoria, RSA Super Rugby Caps: 42 Super Rugby Points: 127 Super Rugby Debut: Round 2, 2007 vs Cheetahs, Pretoria Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – The well-travelled Jacques-Louis Potgieter returns to his Loftus Versfeld roots from France, where he had a successful two year stint with Bayonne. He was due to join Dax in 2014, but answered the call to return to Pretoria, where he last played Super Rugby in 2010. He also had stints with the Cheetahs (2008-09) and Sharks (2011) before his French adventure. Potgieter’s versatility will make him a valuable squad member, as he can cover most backline positions and possesses a very accurate and strong boot.
