SUPER RUGBY MEDIA GUIDE 2014 BULLS 239 TRAVIS ISMAIEL @Travisismaiel Position: Wing Physical: 191cm/96kg Date of Birth: 2 June 1993 Place of Birth: Cape Town, RSA Super Rugby Caps: 0 Super Rugby Points: 0 Super Rugby Debut: – Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – The Bulls continue to invest heavily in junior structures and Travis Ismaiel is a fine example of the products that flow from this youthful production line. A former gold medal winner with the Junior Springboks and one of a number of Currie Cup debutants in 2013, the young winger will be keen for playing opportunities to show off his impressive skill set. Ismaiel is quick, comfortable in the air, kicks well and – most importantly – has the ability to finish try-scoring opportunities. The former track sprinter will be keeping the established wingers in the side on their toes all season long as he seeks a Super Rugby debut. FRIK KIRSTEN Position: Prop Physical: 192cm/120kg Date of Birth: 18 August 1998 Place of Birth: Sandton, RSA Super Rugby Caps: 31 Super Rugby Points: 0 Super Rugby Debut: Round 2, 2009 vs Blues, Pretoria Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – Frik Kirsten has grown into a serious rugby player and his call-up to the Springboks touring squad in November as injury back-up was a fair reflection of his progression in 2013. A former Junior Springbok player who has improved steadily every season, the University of Pretoria graduate is now right there amongst the best props in the competition. He is mobile for an anchor man, has good skills with ball in hand and will always be near the top when tackle count is under discussion. An honest player with a high work rate, Kirsten will be keen to impress in 2014.
