SUPER RUGBY MEDIA GUIDE 2014 BULLS 237 LOUIS FOUCHÈ Position: Flyhalf Physical: 189cm/98kg Date of Birth: 4 January 1990 Place of Birth: Pretoria, RSA Super Rugby Caps: 21 Super Rugby Points: 35 Super Rugby Debut: Round 1, 2012 vs Sharks, Pretoria Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – A knee injury sustained in the latter part of last year’s competition robbed Louis Fouchè of valuable game time in the Currie Cup, where he was top scorer in 2012. As understudy to Mornè Steyn, the easy going 24-year-old took his limited chances well in 2013 and much is still expected from the strappy flyhalf, particularly with Steyn’s departure from the franchise. Time away from the field during the off-season has done wonders for his conditioning and many hours were also spent over the kicking tee. A strong defender with a massive boot, Fouchè will be keen to improve his attacking play during the competition and seek more opportunities at Super Rugby level. He made 11 appearances last season, scoring a pair of tries and missing just one of the 10 goal attempts that he was charged with taking. DEAN GREYLING Position: Prop Physical: 186cm/120kg Date of Birth: 1 January 1986 Place of Birth: Mokopane, RSA Super Rugby Caps: 38 Super Rugby Points: 20 Super Rugby Debut: Round 4, 2008 vs Lions, Pretoria Test Caps: 3 Test Points: 0 Test Debut 23 July 2011 vs Australia, Sydney It is fair to say that 2014 will be a make or break year for Dean Greyling. Injury played havoc with his 2013 season and although the hardrunning prop did start regularly in the latter part of the competition, he was often overlooked during the Currie Cup. The new scrum sequence will be a challenge for all props to adjust to and if Greyling can adapt quickly, we might just see the return to the form that made him a Springbok in 2011. A solid unit in the scrum and blessed with wonderful hands and a strong burst when carrying the ball, Greyling has all to play for this season after just eight appearances at Super Rugby level in 2013.
