The Tasman flyhalf was pivotal in helping the Makos win the ITM Cup Championship in 2013. Banks started his provincial rugby with the Canterbury Colts before heading to Russia in 2011 to play for Siberian club Krasny Yar. He then returned to New Zealand to play for Buller in the Heartland Championship before becoming a regular starter for Tasman in the ITM Cup. With the ability to also play at fullback, Banks is known for his incredible kicking game, which the Hurricanes hope will be an asset throughout the 2014 Super Rugby season. BEAUDEN BARRETT @beaudenbarrett Position: Flyhalf Physical: 187cm/92kg Date of Birth: 27 May 1991 Place of Birth: New Plymouth, NZL Super Rugby Caps: 36 Super Rugby Points: 385 Super Rugby Debut: Round 9, 2011 vs Cheetahs, Bloemfontein Test Caps: 16 Test Points: 57 Test Debut 23 June 2012 vs Ireland, Hamilton The 2013 season proved to be another huge year in the rapidlydeveloping career of Beauden Barrett. He has become a regular member of the All Blacks squad, adding another 10 international caps to his name throughout the past season. Before becoming a fully-fledged All Black, Barrett was a member of the Junior World Championship-winning New Zealand U20 team in 2011 and also played in the All Blacks Sevens team. His father, Kevin, was a lock/flanker for the Hurricanes in 1997 and older brother Kane will play his second season for the Blues in 2014. Barrett’s 1252 minutes and 186 points across 16 Super Rugby matches were the most among the Hurricanes last season.
