He made his provincial debut for the Southland Stags in 2009 against Wellington and played 10 first class games as understudy to Jason Rutledge. Mitchell earned five Super Rugby appearances in 2011 after making his debut against the Hurricanes; one in 2012 when brought into the team from the Wider Training Group; and two in 2013. The 25-year-old hooker will be looking to add to this tally in 2014. A broken collarbone limited the Fijian winger’s 2012 season, but he returned to Canterbury after gaining valuable Super Rugby experience with the Chiefs in 2013 which included a debut against his current team. Osborne’s showing as a big, strong and elusive winger for Canterbury in the 2013 ITM Cup has led to his selection for the 2014 Highlanders where he will be hoping to make an immediate impact.
