2014 SUPER RUGBY MEDIA GUIDE HIGCHRLUASNADERS 188 JAMIE JOSEPH Position: Head Coach Born: 21 November 1969, Blenheim NZL Coaching History: Wellington Assistant Coach (2003-07) Wellington Head Coach (2007-10) Maori All Blacks Head Coach (2010-12) Highlanders Head Coach (2011-) Jamie Joseph joined the Highlanders in 2011 as Head Coach following success with the Maori All Blacks team and the Wellington Lions. After a distinguished playing career that included 20 Tests for the All Blacks, Joseph took up an assistant coaching role with the Wellington Lions in 2003. In 2007, he was elevated to Wellington Head Coach and guided the team to consecutive domestic finals in 2008 and 2009 – both against Canterbury. In 2010, Joseph was appointed as Maori All Blacks Coach and took them to a clean sweep against the NZ Barbarians, Ireland and a famous victory over England. SCOTT MCLEOD Position: Assistant Coach Born: 28 February 1973, Brisbane AUS Coaching History: Waikato Skills Coach (2008) Waikato Assistant Coach (2009) Chiefs Skills Coach (2009-12) Highlanders Assistant Coach (2013-) Scott McLeod enters his second season with the Highlanders after joining the team from Hamilton where he coached the Waikato ITM Cup for two seasons. McLeod was also involved with the Chiefs from 2009-12 in various capacities. During his playing career, McLeod featured in 113 first class games, including 10 Tests for the All Blacks between 1995 and 2001. He won the Ranfurly Shield with Waikato against Taranaki (1996) and Auckland (1997) and took up a playing contract in Japan with Toshiba Brave Lupus in 2002 until he retired in 2009.
