He brings physicality and toughness to the front row, as well as valuable experience. Flynn celebrated 100 Super Rugby caps in the 2011 Super Rugby Semi Final against the Stormers in Cape Town and went on to surpass Reuben Thorne’s record for most Crusaders caps in 2013. Flynn made his international debut for the All Blacks against Canada at the 2003 Rugby World Cup and was included in the 2011 Rugby World Cup squad. He’s also previously represented the Maori All Blacks and Junior All Blacks. Flynn follows in the footsteps of his father who played for Southland; his uncle, Robbie Flynn, who played Tests for the United States and nephew Aaron Flynn who played for the Crusaders from 1998-2000. OWEN FRANKS @franks_owen Position: Prop Physical: 185cm/118kg Date of Birth: 23 December 1987 Place of Birth: Motueka, NZL Super Rugby Caps: 75 Super Rugby Points: 10 Super Rugby Debut: Round 5, 2009 vs Force, Christchurch Test Caps: 54 Test Points: 0 Test Debut 27 June 2009 vs Italy, Christchurch Tighthead prop Owen Franks has become a key part of the Crusaders front row since he debuted in 2009. His impressive strength and scrummaging technique should help the Crusaders to maintain a formidable scrum this season. Although one of the more experienced members of the squad, Franks is still young at just 26 years of age and has plenty of games left in him yet, which is a real positive for a determined player who is constantly seeking personal improvement. Franks has represented New Zealand at Schools, U21 and All Blacks level, making his first All Blacks Test against Italy on his home turf in Christchurch during 2009. He logged 1068 minutes for the team through 15 Super Rugby appearances last season.
