He is regarded as one of the world’s best flyhalves and is believed by many to be one of rugby’s greatest ever in that position. Carter made his provincial debut for Canterbury in 2002 and joined the Crusaders the following season. He also made his All Blacks debut in 2003 and impressed enough to make the Rugby World Cup squad that year. He went on to play in the 2007 and 2011 Rugby World Cups, although a groin injury cruelly robbed him of the latter stages of New Zealand’s triumph in 2011. Carter earned his 100th Super Rugby cap for the Crusaders against the Hurricanes in 2012 and in 2013, became the first Super Rugby player to exceed 1500 points. He also marked his 100th game for the All Blacks in 2013. WYATT CROCKETT Position: Prop Physical: 193cm/116kg Date of Birth: 24 January 1983 Place of Birth: Christchurch, NZL Super Rugby Caps: 122 Super Rugby Points: 40 Super Rugby Debut: Round 1, 2006 vs Highlanders, Christchurch Test Caps: 24 Test Points: 5 Test Debut 27 June 2009 vs Italy, Christchurch Wyatt Crockett grew up in Golden Bay, attending Collingwood Area School at the same time as coach Todd Blackadder was playing club rugby in Collingwood. He joined the Canterbury side and the Crusaders’ Wider Training Group in 2005 and was named a member of the Crusaders squad the following year. Crockett has become a pivotal component of the team and earned his 100th Crusaders cap in 2012 – the second prop to have done so (Greg Somerville, 115). He has also represented New Zealand at all levels including the 2002 U19 World Cup and 2004 U21 World Cup championship sides before making his All Blacks Test debut in 2009. Crockett is a skilled scrummager but also plays much like a loose forward, so displays an excellent work rate around the field. He demands excellence from himself and puts in the hard work to achieve it.
