2014 SUPER RUGBY MEDIA GUIDE BLUES 132 LIAKI MOLI Position: Lock Physical: 197cm/114kg Date of Birth: 4 January 1990 Place of Birth: Auckland, NZL Super Rugby Caps: 16 Super Rugby Points: 5 Super Rugby Debut: Round 5, 2012 vs Hurricanes, Auckland Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – Liaki Moli has represented New Zealand at U17, Secondary School and U20 age grades and in 2010, was New Zealand Rugby’s Age Grade Player of the Year. A string of injuries delayed his Super Rugby debut until 2012 however. Similarly, 2013 was a frustrating season for Moli due to limited game time (four appearances, 99 minutes), but the Auckland-born lock is looking forward to returning to full fitness and contributing on a consistent basis. He possesses great physicality, an aggressive streak in defence and will be working on his individual accuracy to challenge for a starting lock position. CHRIS NOAKES @ChrisNoakes21 Position: Flyhalf Physical: 181cm/86kg Date of Birth: 21 July 1985 Place of Birth: Auckland, NZL Super Rugby Caps: 25 Super Rugby Points: 164 Super Rugby Debut: Round 1, 2012 vs Chiefs, Hamilton Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – Chris Noakes surprised many people last year with his strong performances and brilliant ability to drive the team around the park in just his first season with the Blues. He has a highly astute rugby brain and is a great contributor both on and off the field, having a heavy involvement in the technical and tactical aspects of how the team plays. The arrival of Benji Marshall, a maturing Baden Kerr and a developing Simon Hickey should bring out the competitive best in Noakes this season. He had neck surgery at the end of 2013 and missed Bay of Plenty’s ITM Cup campaign. He has previously played Super Rugby for the Highlanders, making his debut in the opening round of the 2012 season.
