SUPER RUGBY MEDIA GUIDE 2014 BLUES 127 JAMISON GIBSON-PARK @JamisonGPark Position: Scrumhalf Physical: 176cm/84kg Date of Birth: 23 February 1992 Place of Birth: Auckland, NZL Super Rugby Caps: 11 Super Rugby Points: 5 Super Rugby Debut: Round 4, 2013 vs Bulls, Auckland Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – Jamison Gibson-Park took a lot of learnings on board from his debut season in 2013 and will be looking to challenge Piri Weepu and Bryn Hall for the starting number nine jersey in 2014. Gibson-Park had a difficult ITM Cup season with Taranaki and did not get a lot of exposure to game time, but when he did, the young scrumhalf worked hard on his core role execution, which continues to improve. In his second tour with the Maori All Blacks in 2013, Gibson-Park blossomed against Canada and the United States and really showed everyone what he is capable of. He is very quick and elusive around the ruck and his dynamism and gifted running game should really suit the new scrum laws. FRANK HALAI Position: Wing Physical: 195cm/111kg Date of Birth: 6 March 1988 Place of Birth: Pangai, TON Super Rugby Caps: 16 Super Rugby Points: 50 Super Rugby Debut: Round 1, 2013 vs Hurricanes, Wellington Test Caps: 1 Test Points: 5 Test Debut 2 November 2013 vs Japan, Tokyo A devastating runner with an eye for the gap, Frank Halai burst onto the scene in his inaugural year with the Blues in 2013 and was the leading Super Rugby try scorer, finding the line on 10 occasions. He was also named Blues Back of the Year and his fine form for the franchise saw him rewarded with selection in the All Blacks for the end of year tour where he debuted against Japan. Halai made a name for himself in the All Blacks Sevens team. A prolific try scorer, great one-on-one attacker and excellent player under the high ball, Halai will be looking to take his game to the next level in 2014 by increasing his work rate and getting his hands on the ball even more.
