SUPER RUGBY MEDIA GUIDE 2014 WARATAHS 113 WYCLIFF PALU Position: No. 8 Physical: 194cm/116kg Date of Birth: 27 July 1982 Place of Birth: Sydney, AUS Super Rugby Caps: 90 Super Rugby Points: 60 Super Rugby Debut: Round 1, 2005 vs Chiefs, Sydney Test Caps: 49 Test Points: 5 Test Debut 17 June 2006 vs England, Melbourne Wycliff Palu will return to action in 2014 after knee surgery prematurely ended his 2013 campaign. Palu made his New South Wales provincial debut against Samoa in Sydney in 2003 and followed this with his Super Rugby debut against the Chiefs in Round 1 of 2005. He is the 15th most-capped Waratah of all time and – such is his influence – was the first player to win consecutive Matt Burke Cups, claiming the club’s Player’s Player of the Year in 2008 and 2009. A regular fixture in Wallaby gold since 2006 – including two Rugby World Cup campaigns – Palu’s Test cap tally would be considerably higher not for a series of injuries that have taken their toll on game time. A former pupil at Balgowlah Boys High School on the Northern Beaches, Wycliff was brought up in Manly and played all his rugby for the local club. GREG PETERSON Position: Lock Physical: 204cm/118kg Date of Birth: 26 March 1991 Place of Birth: Sydney, AUS Super Rugby Caps: 1 Super Rugby Points: 0 Super Rugby Debut: Round 3, 2013 vs Rebels, Sydney Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – As a powerful young forward, Greg Peterson started his rugby career when his father signed him up for the Norths’ Pirates Junior Rugby Club at just five years of age. In 2010, he made his Shute Shield debut for the Manly Marlins, making his mark by winning the 2010 Shute Shield Rookie of the Year award in his first year out of school. The following year he represented Australia U20 at the 2011 Junior World Championship in Italy, finishing third. He is studying for a Bachelor of Human Movement at the University of Technology, Sydney.
