That was 2008 and the Waratahs went on to reach the Super Rugby Final – losing 20-12 to the Crusaders – while Horne also represented Australia in both Sevens and at the U20 World Cup later that same year. After being picked to travel on his first Australian tour of Japan and Europe, Horne was forced home after tearing his hamstring in Tokyo but would go on to earn his Test debut against Fiji the following year. He also played in the Wallabies’ 2011 Rugby World Cup Bronze Medal final against Wales, won 21-18 by the Wallabies. Born in the Bankstown suburb of Greenacre and schooled at George’s River College, Horne is currently studying for a Graduate Certificate in Commerce at Sydney University, having completed both his Certificate III in Fitness at the Australian Institute of Fitness and a Diploma of Business from the Australian Vocational Training Academy. DAVID HORWITZ Position: Flyhalf Physical: 182cm/92kg Date of Birth: 30 September 1994 Place of Birth: Sydney, AUS Super Rugby Caps: 0 Super Rugby Points: 0 Super Rugby Debut: – Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – A new signing for 2014, David Horwitz is in his first season of Super Rugby, but the 19-year-old has certainly done his apprenticeship, having represented Australian Schools in 2011 and 2012. Horwitz has proven himself to be equally adept at either flyhalf or inside centre, where his organisational skills and strong all-round game provide great stability. Born in Sydney to South African parents, Horwitz developed his game at Easts Wallaroos and Scots College and is hoping to be Australia’s first Jewish Super Rugby player. His off-field interests include skiing, cricket, the beach and music. He is currently studying for a degree in Commerce.
