The 21-year-old lock made his debut against the Force in 2013 and goes into the new season with four Super Rugby caps to his name. A strong, ball-carrying type with the ability to play on the blindside, Holloway was born in Wollongong but moved to the Far North Coast at the age of nine and went on to play for the same Yamba Buccaneers junior club as his Southern Districts and Waratahs team mate, Kane Douglas. In 2010, Holloway was selected in the Australian Schoolboys side and voted Shute Shield Rookie of the Year in 2012. A keen surfer, Holloway is part way through a Bachelor of Health and Movement at the Australian College of Physical Education. MICHAEL HOOPER Position: Flanker Physical: 182cm/101kg Date of Birth: 29 October 1991 Place of Birth: Collaroy, AUS Super Rugby Caps: 45 Super Rugby Points: 40 Super Rugby Debut: Round 7, 2010 vs Chiefs, Canberra Test Caps: 28 Test Points: 10 Test Debut 5 June 2012 vs Scotland, Newcastle Michael Hooper is coming off a career year in which he won the prestigious John Eales Medal and earned the title of Australia’s Super Rugby Player of the Year. In his first year at the club, Hooper also claimed the 2013 Matt Burke Cup for Waratahs Players’ Player of the Year. A product of the Manly Marlins, Hooper made his Super Rugby debut for the Brumbies in 2010, replacing Wallabies legend George Smith. His Test debut came in 2012 against Scotland in Newcastle and he’s since become a mainstay in the squad, earning a reputation as a dogged and tenacious ball-winner. A former pupil at Chatswood’s St Pius X College, Hooper grew up in the Northern Beaches’ suburb of Collaroy and is looking for a career in marketing at the conclusion of his playing career, which is hopefully some time away.
