SUPER RUGBY MEDIA GUIDE 2014 WARATAHS 107 TALA GRAY @TalaGray Position: No. 8 Physical: 194cm/114kg Date of Birth: 28 February 1990 Place of Birth: Melbourne, AUS Super Rugby Caps: 0 Super Rugby Points: 0 Super Rugby Debut: – Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – A former member of both the Waratahs and Brumbies academies, Tala Gray played two seasons of Shute Shield rugby for Easts before heading to France to join Top 14 side Biarritz in 2011. While in the southwest of France, Gray earned 28 caps and won the Amlin Challenge Cup with a 21-18 triumph over Toulon in 2012. The big powerful back-rower caught the eye of Waratahs Head Coach Michael Cheika who signed him for the 2014 Super Rugby Season. Gray is a former member of the Australian U20 team and also represented the Australian Sevens squad. For life after football, Gray is studying Business Management. MICHAEL HODGE Position: Centre Physical: 183cm/91kg Date of Birth: 27 May 1989 Place of Birth: Canberra, AUS Super Rugby Caps: 0 Super Rugby Points: 0 Super Rugby Debut: – Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – Born in Canberra, Michael Hodge joined the Waratahs in 2013 and is working hard to earn his Super Rugby debut. A former Australian Sevens player, Hodge took rugby up in the U8s for ACT junior side South Tuggernong and represented his Canberra school Marist College before earning a place in the Australian Rugby Union’s National Training Squad at the age of 15. After outstanding pre-season trial matches against Samoa, and Tonga, Hodge earned a Waratahs contract at the start of the 2013 season. Outside rugby, Hodge has a Bachelor of Education degree, is a passionate cricket supporter and enjoys a round of golf whenever he gets a chance.
