The 25-year-old made his Waratahs debut against the Crusaders in 2012 and has also represented Australia at U20 level. A long time Coogee Wombat league player, Betham was brought up in Sydney’s inner west. He went to school at St Joseph’s College, playing his schoolboy rugby at wing or fullback alongside fellow Joeys’ teammate Kurtley Beale and was a member of the premiership-winning sides of 2005 and 2006. He was part of the setup at the Brumbies in 2008-09 and spent 2011 at the Rebels in between his time with the Waratahs. Outside of rugby, Betham enjoys spending time with his family and listening to music, in particular New Zealand rock band Six60. MATT CARRARO Position: Centre Physical: 185cm/93kg Date of Birth: 4 August 1984 Place of Birth: Gosford, AUS Super Rugby Caps: 12 Super Rugby Points: 0 Super Rugby Debut: Round 1, 2007 vs Chiefs, Hamilton Test Caps: 0 Test Points: 0 Test Debut – Matt Carraro had two seasons in the Waratahs’ sky blue back in 2008-09 before joining English premiership side Bath (2009-12). The hard-running outside back then signed on for French club Montpellier for the 2012-13 seasons. Invited to join the Waratahs on their end of season tour to South America, Carraro impressed Head Coach Michael Cheika and was rewarded with a contract. The 29-year-old lists Waratahs legend and Assistant Coach Nathan Grey, along with Stephen Larkham, as his favourite players. Larkham is the current Head Coach of the Brumbies where Carraro started his Super Rugby career in 2007. Born in Gosford on the New South Wales Central Coast, Carraro loves being back in Sydney. He is studying Human Movement at Sydney University and when he’s not playing rugby, enjoys BBQs, the beach, bodyboarding and longboarding.
