At the age of 19, Ashley-Cooper moved to Canberra to take up his first professional contract in 2005 but after eight seasons with the Brumbies, returned to Sydney. He played every match in his debut season for the Waratahs and 14 in 2013, scoring three tries. Labelled one of the most versatile players in the game, the international veteran can play centre, wing, or fullback. He holds the record for the fastest hat-trick in Rugby World Cup history, crossing for three tries in eight minutes in the 67-5 victory over the United States in 2011. He is also the only player to feature in every minute of a full seven-match Rugby World Cup campaign. The former Australian Schoolboys captain became the Waratahs’ first choice flyhalf at the start of 2008 and went on to make 68 appearances for the Sydney-based club. Beale has 39 Test caps, his first coming at the end of the 2009 Spring Tour, when he appeared on the wing as a substitute against Wales. He moved to fullback for the 2010 season and won the prestigious John Eales Medal as Australia’s best player throughout 2011. Beale returns to the Waratahs in 2014 after two seasons with the Rebels.
