Hold on! Here come the Bulls Whenever the St.George Queensland Reds prepare to tackle the Bulls from Pretoria in Super Rugby you can’t help but wonder whether the players join their thongs of loyal supporters in taking stock and trying not to think back to a dark night in 2007. The Bulls are one of Super Rugby’s proven performers and as such can never be underestimated. They hold the record as the most successful team in the Super “14”, winning three of the five available titles while super boot Morne Steyn, the second top point scorer of all time behind Canterbury’s Dan Carter, also calls Loftus Versfield home. Tough and uncompromising, the Bulls won their last title back in 2010, backing up 2009’s supreme efforts. Fast forward to 2011 and Queensland rugby diehards would have had it no other way than to see their Reds take trophy from the hands of the defending champions, and their fiercest South African foe. Despite a long history that stretches back to 1938, the Bulls didn’t have the opportunity to play against the Reds until the advent of Super Rugby 1996. Head to head, the Reds hold the advantage over the Bulls. From 17 games, Queensland has won 10 and the Bulls 7. v History By Karina Welch
